New York City is a hub of art and culture, and there’s no better way to explore the city’s artistic brilliance than by dedicating an entire day to it. If you’re an art enthusiast, we recommend planning a Friday in the city to have an unforgettable experience.

Start your day in Chelsea at Balthazar, where you can enjoy a sumptuous breakfast or brunch that’s as delightful to the eyes as it is to the taste buds. Balthazar is a renowned dining spot, and for a good reason – their dishes are nothing short of edible art. The restaurant opens at 8 A.M., so it’s perfect for an early start.

After breakfast, venture to SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, where you’ll witness the world-renowned Air exhibit by Kenzo Digital. This sky-high installation is a magnificent display of visuals and sounds. The exhibit is awe-inspiring and the perfect addition to any art lover’s day in the city.

Next, head over to Chelsea’s many art galleries, such as the famed Gagosian. You’ll find that most galleries open at 10 A.M., and they’re the perfect place to mingle with artists, art lovers, and collectors. Immerse yourself in the local art scene, and you may even discover the next big art sensation.

It’s not a proper art day without a visit to the Museum of Modern Art, or MoMA, as it is commonly called. Make sure you visit the museum well before they close at 5:30 P.M. and give yourself plenty of time to explore the stunning exhibits. The museum has an extensive collection of modern and contemporary art, including works by world-renowned artists like Picasso, Van Gogh, and Warhol.

After your MoMA visit, head to The Modern for an early dinner. This restaurant is known as the location where Carrie told her friends she was engaged in “Sex and the City.” Besides its pop culture fame, The Modern is also one of the best dining experiences you’ll have in New York City.

A day of art in New York City doesn’t end with dinner. The Metropolitan Museum of Art (AKA The Met) closes at 9 P.M. on Fridays and Saturdays. Additionally, the Rubin Museum of Art closes at 10 P.M. on Fridays. We highly recommend a visit to The Met that evening, where you’ll have an opportunity to experience the museum’s vast collection of art from around the world.

In all, a full day in New York City dedicated to the art scene is the perfect day for any art lover. Start your day with a picturesque breakfast, explore the many local art galleries, indulge in spectacular art exhibits, and take in the world-renowned collections of the MoMA and The Met. It’s a day that’s bound to leave you feeling inspired and fulfilled.
