Cocktails With a View at The Highlight Room in NYC
A Look at The Highlight Room in New York City
“The Highlight Room is a truly stunning location,” Davey told us. “Inspired by the German Winter Garden that stood along the Bowery in the mid-18th century, The Highlight Room is a stylish garden in the sky perched high above the Lower East Side. Ascending on a dedicated elevator from a street-level alley behind the hotel, patrons arrive at a magical oasis 16 stories above the ground: Hanging plants and fabric lanterns sway from the ceiling above the bar, lush greenery springs from hidden corners, and, at the center, a majestic tree spreads its branches towards all four corners of the room.”
The gorgeous rooftop view of New York City, combined with creative cocktails and imaginative small plates, provides a stellar setting for a night on the town at any evening hour. “Late nights are killer parties, but coming for some cocktails and small bites at Golden Hour is the secret pro move,” Davey shared. “The space is beautiful, and the views are breathtaking. We wanted to curate cocktails that complimented both of these things, focusing on looks and intriguing flavor combinations.”
Small plate selections include fun flavors like a Black Truffle Pizza, Sugar Snap Pea Guacamole and a Black Forest Sundae. Cocktail options are just as unique. “Shiso Pretty is an ode to the beautiful sunsets over the city; this blush-colored cocktail has flavors of rose, grapefruit, mixed citrus and, of course, fresh shiso. The garnish is a vegan foam painted with berry dust and ground turmeric to echo the view of the sky,” Davey told us of the fun craft concoctions. “Dolly Lava is sweet, but with a little bit of heat, this margarita variation gets a little boost of botanicals with a touch of gin. The lusciously juicy winter peach finds a counterpoint with a housemade sriracha agave for a cocktail that is exceedingly crushable.”
If you’re feeling nostalgic, try out the Cereal Killer. “Cereal Killer is an old-fashioned riff that combines childhood nostalgia with fall flavors,” Davey explains. “Apple, cinnamon, and brown sugar marry with a cereal infusion that gives apple pie vibes with a backbone of sweet, malty goodness in this whiskey-forward cocktail.”
