Three Must-Visit Spots for the Philadelphia Beer Gardens Season
When the weather finally breaks in Philly, the city’s outdoor scene comes alive. The 2026 Philadelphia Beer Garden Season is officially here, and this year’s lineup ranges from massive historic hangouts to hidden, designer courtyards. If you’re looking to grab a drink outside this spring, these three spots should be at the top of your list.
Independence Beer Garden: History on Tap
As of Wednesday, April 15, Independence Beer Garden (IBG) returns to its prime real estate in Old City. This isn’t your average patio; it’s a 20,000-square-foot space overlooking the Liberty Bell and Independence National Historic Park. It’s built for crowds, with long communal tables, plenty of greenery, and outdoor games to keep things moving.
If you want the full experience, head over on Friday, April 24, for IBG Fest. Starting at 4:00 PM, the garden will host local vendors and a live DJ, leading right into a Phillies watch party at 7:15 PM. It’s easily the best place in the neighborhood to catch the game with a crowd.

Haas Biergarten: Waterfront Views and Cheap Bites
Opening Friday, May 1, Fringe Bar’s Haas Biergarten is the go-to for a breeze off the Delaware River. This season, they’re launching the PumpHouse Pizza pop-up, so you can grab fresh slices under the trees with a view of the Ben Franklin Bridge.
The real draw here is “Philly Phridays.” Every Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the bar runs a happy hour menu that actually pays homage to the city’s neighborhood flavors. You can find eggplant banh mi, pernil al pastor tacos, and pretzel bites—all for under $10. If you can’t make it on Friday, they do an all-day happy hour every Thursday with mini margaritas from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Frankie’s Summer Club: A Hidden Midtown Oasis
Also opening May 1 is Frankie’s Summer Club, a stylish retreat tucked away at 15th & Pine. Located in the courtyard of what used to be Haviland & Furness Halls, this spot feels more like a private club than a standard bar. The design team at Scout used the space to honor architect Frank Furness, filling the area with eclectic, geometric tables that make it easy for big groups to walk in and find a spot.
The food is a step above typical bar fare, featuring Italian-inspired snacks from Chef Michael Ferreri of Irwin’s. Pair some small plates with a glass of natural wine or a cocktail, and definitely don’t skip the soft serve. Just keep an eye on the clock—they’re only open on the weekends:
- Fridays & Saturdays: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Sundays: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
The Philadelphia Beer Garden Season is the best part of spring in the city. Whether you’re looking for a rowdy night in Old City or a low-key glass of wine in a historic courtyard, these three spots have the vibes covered.
