Station Casinos Breaks Ground on New Las Vegas Resort

Station Casinos officially broke ground on the site for the new Durango Casino & Resort that’s slated to open next year. The property will be located just south of the Durango & 215 junction, on the other side of the freeway from IKEA.

“Station Casinos is bullish on the local and overall Las Vegas gaming market, which is why we are investing $750 million in Durango Station,” Scott Kreeger, President of Station Casinos said in a statement to the press. “This brick-and-mortar investment will create thousands of construction and permanent jobs, generating tens of millions of dollars in economic impact and tax revenue to the state and county.”

Following the official groundbreaking, Station Casinos held an exclusive pop-up for invited guests to preview what visitors can expect at the new resort on the site of the new property. Conceptual art and design renderings were fully on display, giving guests a glimpse into the facade and facilities that have yet to be built. Additional design aspects and the property’s new logo were unveiled as well, providing a real look at the desert theme and Southwestern vibe of the upcoming property.

Local company Friedmutter Group will be operating as the Architect of Record and multiple firms like Avenue ID and Looney & Associates will be assisting with the design. Construction will be managed by W.A. Richardson Builders, LLC and over 18,000 cubic yards of concrete (and over 624 tons of steel) will be used in the building of the new resort.

The property looks to blend indoor and outdoor spaces into a spacious open plan. Diners can enjoy a food hall in addition to four dining and beverage options. A spacious lawn will be utilized for events and the convention portion of the property will host over 20,000 square feet of space.

The property also looks to be more environmentally-friendly with plenty of charging stations for electric vehicles and a bike-friendly parking lot and lanes.
