Nobody does food or festivals quite like New York City. This year, we’ve seen the return of so many eateries, celebrations and gatherings. Honoring the former Bishop of Benevento, San Gennaro, the Feast of San Gennaro is a combination of all three and is easily one of the city’s favorite festivals.
Where and When
The Feast of San Gennaro takes place annually in Little Italy. You can find the festival on Mulberry Street between Canal Street and Houston Street, Hester Street between Baxter Street and Center Street, and Grand Street between Baxter Street and Centre Market Place. The festival will run from September 14 to September 24, 2023.
What to See and Hear
The celebration is more than just a food festival—many smaller events take place throughout the Feast of San Gennaro. That said, many of the events are food-related such as the Cannoli Eating Contest, the Zeppole Eating Competition, the Pizza Eating Contest, and Meatball Eating Contest. Live performances are also scheduled throughout the entire celebration as well.
What to Eat and Do
In addition to the entertainment options, you’ll find a wide variety of vendors onsite at the Feast of San Gennaro. Every imaginable type of Italian food will be on offer, so you’ll definitely see any of your pasta cravings throughout the celebration (also make sure to stock up on some of the best Italian sweets around).
In addition to food vendors, numerous shops are setting up space inside the festival with various goods available (perfect if you need a fun gift or souvenir). The festival also has games and attractions fit for the whole family.
