We talked with one of the star performers of the Strips’ most beloved shows, David O’Mer, about his background and his favorites ways to enjoy Las Vegas. While some shows continue the same routines year after year, “Absinthe” has reinvented itself multiple times, bringing new numbers and fascinating acts to the Spiegeltent in front of Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip.

Many performers are easy to remember fan favorites like the Green Fairy and “Bathtub Boy.” The star of that bathtub routine is none other than David O’mer, a talented aerialist and former gymnast. We got the inside scoop from him about his hobbies, his days off and his favorite spots in Las Vegas.
David O’mer’s Las Vegas Favorites
WG: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you like to do in your off time?
O’mer: I’m an adventurous person—I love surfing, snowboarding, road trips. I am a competitive skydiver and love dogs. I was able to find new hobbies during the pandemic that I equally enjoy martial arts and crocheting.
WG: How did you get your start as a performer?
O’mer: I retired from competitive gymnastics and then was lucky to meet the right people in the entertainment world to get my start.
WG: Where are you from, and how long have you lived in Las Vegas?
O’mer: Berlin, Germany and I’ve been in Las Vegas since 2014.
WG: What is your favorite thing about living in Las Vegas?
O’mer: Las Vegas is a great entertainment community, has lots of living space, beautiful desert nature around the city and great food.

WG: What is your favorite spot to bring visiting family and friends?
O’mer: Red Rock Canyon.
WG: What do you suggest if someone asks you for dinner recommendations in Las Vegas?
O’mer: Esther’s Kitchen, Other Mama and Osaka.
WG: Where are some of your favorite places to go and things to do in Las Vegas on your day off?
O’mer: I love surfing in Southern California, going out to Red Rock Canyon/Blue Diamond and seeing movies.
