Behind the Mic on Broadway
Life as a Queen in SIX: The Musical
Hetsberger describes her current role as regal yet competitive. “I currently play Catherine of Aragon in SIX: The Musical, who was the first wife of Henry VIII. She is regal and poised yet very competitive and willing to do whatever it takes to win the competition,” she shares. Her journey to the Broadway stage was a steady climb that began in her youth. “I was in my first musical ever at the age of 12 in my middle school’s play, Aladdin,” she says, noting that this led to college studies and a professional career that included the national tour of Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations and & Juliet.
For newcomers to the theater scene, Hetsberger says, “SIX: The Musical is unlike any other show on Broadway. It is only 80 minutes long and is designed to be like a pop concert. It’s a competition between the six wives of Henry VIII to see who put up with Henry the most. You learn a lot of historical facts while also having a great time with a pop girl group.” What she loves most about her job is the audience interaction. “I love that we get to break the fourth wall and talk to the audience,” she says, adding that the concert style has allowed her to “gain more knowledge about how concerts might work.”

Insider Tips for Exploring NYC
Having spent time navigating the city, Hetsberger offers some valuable advice for visitors eager to avoid tourist pitfalls. Her top suggestion is simple: “Don’t just stay in Times Square. If you can, explore other boroughs. NY is so big and has a lot to offer in many places.” She also learned a practical New York lesson about transit early on: “That sometimes taking a bike to work is way faster than a subway or car ride.” (Check out our transportation guide here). When family and friends visit, her recommended itinerary focuses on culture and tranquility. “Definitely any of the many museums NY has to offer. Or for a walk in Central Park or by the Hudson River,” she says. For an ideal night out, Hetsberger loves the classic city pairing: “I absolutely love dinner and a show. It can never go wrong. However, the occasional Lower East Side for going out and dancing is always fun too.” Her overall love for the city stems from its energy: “I love that there is always something to do here!”
Najah’s Favorite NYC Bites
Even with access to the city’s endless dining options, Hetsberger has a go-to comfort meal. “My favorite meal in NYC has to be the chicken sandwich I order at Schnippers on 41st and Broadway,” she shares, proving that sometimes the best food is found right around the corner from the theater district.
