Miami Art Week transforms the city into an expansive gallery, hosting major exhibition debuts, ambitious installations, and engaging artist discussions across various neighborhoods, from South Beach to the Design District and Wynwood.
Major Exhibition Debuts and New Collections
Several galleries and institutions are unveiling significant new collections, often featuring internationally renowned and established artists.
- David LaChapelle at VISU Contemporary in South Beach is presenting Vanishing Act, a major exhibition by acclaimed photographer David LaChapelle, running from November 29, 2025, through January 31, 2026. The show compiles over 30 substantial photographs, including nine global premieres, that serve as a visual record of a chaotic world where spirituality meets beauty. LaChapelle’s work uses a unique visual language blending theatricality and social critique to explore the paradoxes between decay and authenticity. The free public grand opening will feature the artist in attendance on Friday, December 5.
- The Goodtime Hotel Presents borderline The Goodtime Hotel is presenting borderline for Art Week, a group exhibition organized in partnership with Queue Gallery, Supermarket Gallery, and Miami Art Society. The show features 11 South Florida artists who use various media, including painting, ceramics, and sculpture. Presenting works never before seen, the display encourages guests to reflect on the idea of “the in-between.” The hotel will transform its interiors into a sequence of immersive artistic vignettes, leveraging its reputation as an escapist retreat. The exhibit opens with a complimentary public reception on Thursday, November 20, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., where all participating artists will be present. The collection will be available for viewing daily from November 21 through December 8.
- The Craig Robins Collection, situated at Dacra’s headquarters in the Miami Design District, will debut its 2025-2026 rehang, Walking on Air. The rehang focuses on the extensive work of Richard Tuttle, showcasing pieces from the mid-1960s to the present that exemplify material subtlety and spatial lightness. Tuttle’s art is displayed alongside influential works by David Hammons and Marcel Duchamp, drawing parallels between their shared interest in chance and grace. Viewing is available by appointment between December 2nd and 5th.
- Lina Cerrone Gallery in Wynwood is debuting multiple new exhibitions. These feature Mystic Roots by Colombian artist Juliana Plexxo (whose work has been sent to space), Quantum Painting by its pioneer Véronique Barrillot, Oh What Beautiful Flowers by local emerging artist Patrick Penkwitt, and Resonance by street artist Cedric Bouteiller. The gallery will host public gatherings for each artist between November 30 and December 6.
Immersive Installations and Live Art
Hotels and unique venues are hosting interactive installations, live painting, and site-specific works that turn the city into a living canvas.
- The Hotel Continental is collaborating with artist Danny O’Connor, known for his cartoon-style canvases celebrating American leisure, for a series of free public events. On Tuesday, December 2, the interactive Paws and Palettes event invites guests to bring pet photos for O’Connor to sketch. This is followed by An Afternoon of Art on Wednesday, December 3, where O’Connor will paint a large-scale reinterpretation of scenes from his lobby piece “The Summer of 1948” live on the poolside canvas.
- Multidisciplinary artist Hira Majeed will host a live art activation on the Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club’s front porch, beginning Tuesday, December 2. Majeed will paint “Serenity,” a life-size Cadillac F1 car sculpture, utilizing color-shift paint that reacts to light. The sculpture bridges contemporary art, motorsports, and design and will remain on display through the 2026 F1 season. Separately, Majeed’s solo exhibition of emotionally resonant paintings and sculptures will be on view in the Riviera and Riviera Terrace from December 1 through the 7th.
- The MAD Arts facility in Dania Beach is exhibiting The Junk Machine by conceptual artist ClownVamp through December 7. This interactive installation features a robot that generates and prints 6×6-inch, surreal “junk mail” images on demand, serving as a playful critique of how AI is being industrialized for excess and mass production rather than exploration.
- The Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club is showcasing “Wish You Were Here,” a bright, large-scale tapestry by Miami-based artist Denise Treizman, created from unconventional materials such as pool noodles and duct tape. The towering piece, which evokes a tactile postcard of a Miami sunset, is part of the City of Miami Beach’s No Vacancy public art program and is on view in the adult pool area.
- On Thursday, December 4, The Gates Hotel South Beach and One Love Art DAO will present the Listen To Your Heart exhibition. This immersive Art Week showcase unites international artists through mixed-media installations, projection mapping, and live mural creation. The event features artists such as Marlon Pruz, SUPERAMA, and YuZapata and includes a mural reveal, a crypto vending machine, and a guided gallery tour.
- The Betsy is debuting a new photography and mixed-media collection across its nine galleries at its Art Week Opening Event on Thursday, December 4, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The centerpiece is the premiere of a commissioned dance performance by the Peter London Global Dance Company, whose movements parallel the ephemeral themes found in the hotel’s exhibit of Christo and Jeanne-Claude legacy photographs by Wolfgang Volz.
Artist Talks and Cultural Discussions
Several venues are hosting discussions that provide a deeper context for the works and themes presented during the week.
- The Betsy Hotel will host two significant discussions centered on photography. On Friday, December 5, artist Anastasia Samoylova will discuss her new photographic collection, Atlantic Coast, which retraces a 1954 journey along the Eastern Seaboard to reflect on modern American identity. On Saturday, December 6, Dr. Deborah Willis, author of Reflections in Black, will discuss her comprehensive collection of Black photography and its role in re-evaluating American history, joined by photographer Cornelius Tulloch and writer Joan Morgan.
- Dolly and Oz Presents, a South Beach gallery focused on underrepresented voices, is debuting a collection featuring five creators, including acclaimed fashion photographer Lyall Aston and sculptor Farís Saleh, who uses reclaimed ocean materials. The gallery pairs its exhibitions with community programming, fostering dialogue and serving as a gathering space.
- The Gates Hotel South Beach is hosting Ungated Connections on Wednesday, December 3, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., focusing on the Bitcoin collector community. The event features the debut of a BTC art collection, along with educational sessions and networking.
