Bigfoot Hunting and Camping in Washington State

Kick off your A Goofy Movie road trip in the Pacific Northwest, where the dense forests of Washington State offer a real-world backdrop for Max’s initial reluctance and perhaps even a comical Bigfoot sighting. While we can’t guarantee an encounter with the legendary creature, Washington is a prime location for Bigfoot research and boasts numerous camping opportunities in Washington state, in areas known for reported sightings, like the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Pitch your tent, keep an eye out for large footprints, and immerse yourself in the wilderness where the mystery of Sasquatch continues to intrigue.

Thrills and Screams on a Pennsylvania Wooden Rollercoaster

Next, head east to Kennywood in Pennsylvania, a historic amusement park that embodies the classic fun Goofy and Max might have stumbled upon. Experience the exhilarating drops and rattling thrills of an old-fashioned wooden rollercoaster like the Jack Rabbit or the Thunderbolt. Screaming along these iconic rides will surely bring out your inner Max (or Goofy!), creating unforgettable family amusement park fun and a taste of vintage Americana.

Mime Hunting in the New Orleans French Quarter

While not a direct parallel to a specific A Goofy Movie scene, the vibrant and quirky atmosphere of the French Quarter in New Orleans perfectly captures the unpredictable nature of their road trip. Embrace the unique street performers and perhaps engage in some lighthearted “mime hunting” amidst the historic architecture and lively music. Explore the New Orleans culture, enjoy some delicious Cajun cuisine, and soak in the eccentric energy of this iconic American city.

Exploring the Depths of Carlsbad Caverns

Venture southwest to Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico, a breathtaking underground world of stunning formations. While not explicitly featured in the movie, the sheer wonder and awe of these vast caverns mirror the unexpected discoveries and adventures Max and Goofy encounter on their journey. Take a tour, marvel at the stalactites and stalagmites, and experience the unique beauty of this natural wonder—a fantastic stop for educational family travel.

A Majestic Detour to the Grand Canyon (and Avoiding Aquatic Adventures)

As you journey across the country, a detour to the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona is an absolute must-see American landmark. While Goofy and Max didn’t intentionally take a swim in a canyon river, the sheer scale and breathtaking beauty of the Grand Canyon are certainly worthy of a stop on any epic road trip. Be sure to take in the awe-inspiring vistas, hike along the rim (with caution!), and capture some unforgettable photos. Important safety tip: remember to keep your eyes on the road while driving near the canyon edges and always utilize your emergency brakes when parked to avoid any unplanned aquatic adventures in this magnificent, albeit very dry, wonder of the world.

Elvis Experiences and Retro Dining in Memphis

Make a pilgrimage to Memphis, Tennessee, the home of the King! Immerse yourselves in Elvis Presley’s history by visiting Graceland and exploring the city that shaped his legendary career. For a true taste of retro Americana, dine at The Arcade Restaurant, a real-life vintage diner where Elvis himself used to eat. You might even be lucky enough to catch an Elvis impersonator, adding a fun, Goofy-esque twist to your meal at this classic Memphis diner. Maybe you’ll even pass off navigator duties while you’re there.

Cruising the Iconic Route 66 for Vintage Fun

Hop on the legendary Route 66 for a quintessential American road trip experience. While you won’t find a literal Neptune Inn with aquarium waterbeds, the Mother Road is brimming with themed roadside attractions and vintage motels full of character and quirky charm. Stop at quirky museums, pose with oversized statues, and soak in the nostalgic atmosphere of this historic highway. Embrace the spirit of adventure and the unexpected delights that await around every bend on historic Route 66.

High-Speed Fun Jetskiing in Miami

Inject some high-octane fun into your road trip with a stop in Miami, Florida, for some exhilarating jetskiing. Feel the wind in your hair and the spray of the ocean as you cruise along the vibrant coastline. This action-packed activity captures the spirit of Max’s youthful energy and adds a modern twist to your adventure inspired by A Goofy Movie.
