The Best Las Vegas Photo Locations for Perfect Selfies

We live in the age of the selfie, a quick self-portrait snapped with a smartphone and uploaded to the photographer’s social media platform. You may believe it is narcissism that drives one to do this. Well, speak for your selfie! While some selfies are humorous, like people making duck lip faces or vanity driven with muscle-flexing photos at the gym, we think the selfie is a great way to communicate and commemorate important life events. Taking a selfie captures beautiful landmarks with you in it, even when you don’t have someone around to take a photograph for you.

Speak For Your Selfie: Las Vegas’ Best Selfie Spots

Our fabulous city of Las Vegas is always Instagram-ready and Instagram-worthy. According to the online travel company, TravelBird, Las Vegas ranks as the 6th most Instagrammed place in the world based on hashtags. We are proud of our selfies! While there is an abundance of fantastic selfie spots in our city, here are the best free selfie locations in Las Vegas.

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign

The famous “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign was built and installed in 1959 and is a Las Vegas landmark. It is located on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. Contrary to popular belief, the sign isn’t actually in Las Vegas as it sits roughly four miles south of the Las Vegas city limits. Regardless, the sign is always a busy selfie spot. Be prepared to wait in line. It makes for a great first photo in a series of selfie social media postings for your Vegas trip.

Las Vegas Gateway Arches

Complementing the Welcome to Las Vegas sign are the 80 foot tall Las Vegas Gateway Arches. The arches are located on the north end of the Strip between St. Louis Ave. and Bob Stupak Ave. at the base of The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod. The illuminated arches form a gateway to downtown Las Vegas. There are over 13,000 lights on the arches, and the sign changes color (which makes for a great time-lapse video clip).

Seven Magic Mountains

The Seven Magic Mountains is an art installation by Ugo Rondinone, consisting of seven neon-colored rock towers in the Nevada desert just outside of Las Vegas. The thirty-foot-tall colorful stacks have become a social media sensation and the perfect spot for an epic selfie. Depending on the hour and day, it can become very crowded. It may be best to take your selfie by tower groupings rather than all seven installations at one time. Make sure to stop by while you still can! The Seven Magic Mountains are scheduled to depart at the end of 2021.

Bellagio Conservatory & Fountains of Bellagio

There are two locations at Bellagio Las Vegas which must be part of your Vegas Selfie collection. The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is a 14,000-square-foot Botanical Garden that showcases the best of each season. Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter are all featured yearly—along with a unique display for Lunar New Year. The shows are changed seasonally. The results are always a breathtaking floral display guaranteed to make your Instagram feed shine.

The Fountains of Bellagio are an iconic spectacle that should be on every trip list. Time your selfies so you can catch a photo with the fountain performance in the background. The daily show occurs Monday to Friday, every 30 minutes, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The shows happen every 15 minutes from 8 p.m. to midnight. On weekends and holidays, experience the display every 30 minutes from noon to 8 p.m. and every 15 minutes from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Statue of Liberty and Eiffel Tower

You can get a little piece of Paris and New York by walking down the Las Vegas Strip. New York-New York Hotel & Casino has a 150-foot replica of the Statue of Liberty with the Manhattan skyline behind her. Paris Las Vegas has a half-scale, 540-foot tall model of the Eiffel Tower. For a fee, you can experience the viewing deck with sparkling views of the Strip inside of the replica of the French monument. Both models make for stellar selfie backdrops.

Las Vegas Showgirls Sign

The Las Vegas Showgirls Sign just celebrated its third birthday. It is located just a short distance from the Gateway Arches and features 26-foot showgirls, dice and poker chips stacked high enough to sit on and the city of Las Vegas logo. A bonus tip is that there are hardly ever any lines at this sign!

Fremont Street Experience

The Fremont Street Experience is extremely rich in neon colors and makes for the most vibrant backdrop for your selfie. A stunning six to eight-minute light show also features three-dimensional interpretations of top songs from music icons. It’s the perfect place for a video selfie!

Downtown Las Vegas Murals

Look beyond the Las Vegas Strip for more terrific selfie spots. Downtown Las Vegas has a lively Arts District where you will find colorful murals and graffiti art. Several murals were created on the boarded-up facades of businesses during the height of the pandemic, like the Kill The Virus mural at Evel Pie along Fremont East. If you love street art, visit on every trip—many murals are created for the Life is Beautiful festival and change yearly.
