That August swelter can be set aside with your first sip of a cold beer; lucky for you you’re in America’s beer capital!
Hometown juggernaut Anheuser-Busch brews Bud Light, the most popular beer in the country, along with a few others you may know! (More on them in a moment.) And if you need more choices, we recommend pulling up a barstool at The International Tap House, where a wall of taps and hundreds of bottled beers can tickle even the most discerning taste. There are two locations in St. Louis, one in Soulard, and one in Delmar.
O’Fallon Brewery brews a golden ale (O’Fallon Gold), an award-winning Smoked Porter, a delightfully fruity concoction called “Wheach” (wheat/peach), and the O’Fallon 5 Day IPA, a great beverage to pair with the local, grass-fed beef burger on the menu at Newstead Tower Pub.
Square One Brewery crafts a Bavarian Weizen, Park Ave. Pale Ale, and a tasty Saison beer (plus distills their own spirits!), served at a lovely brewpub in the Lafayette Square neighborhood.
Up for a roadtrip? Tin Mill Brewing Co., in Missouri wine country, is making its mark with beers including Skyscraper pilsner and Maibock. If you’re indecisive, or just want a lot of bang for one stop, consider putting yourself in the good hands of a bartender at Brewhouse Historical Sports Bar, downtown (inside Hyatt Regency).
Oh, and back to the biggest brewer—to see the Clydesdales, the staggering production facility and historic Anheuser-Busch campus near downtown, take a tour starting at I-55 at Arsenal St., 314.577.2626.
