While the secret to the perfect swing is debatable, the allure of a good golf game is a well-known fact. From the feeling of the grass to the peaceful sound of the club connecting with the ball, few sports are more satisfying on a nice day. Add the charm of the expansive Texas landscape, and you have one memorable day on the green. Here are some of D/FW’s most meticulously crafted courses.

A well-timed sunset is a small pleasure for every golfer, and Bear Creek Golf Club gives that and more. This club features dazzling views, two par-72, professional-quality courses and a large practice area. Bear Creek is also a draw for large groups and those sponsoring corporate events.

Experienced golfers head to Riverchase Golf Club. This club is less flashy than most, but is equally as satisfying with its daily rates and multitude of amenities like golf instruction and drink specials. This challenging, 18-hole course, with Champion Bermuda grass, rivals any other in the area.

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at some of the most challenging courses in the country, then make your way to Tour 18 Dallas for an incomparable day on the green. Tour 18 offers simulations of some of America’s most lauded courses, an amenities-filled clubhouse and a diverse selection of practice areas to get you ready for the big game. Tour 18’s full-service restaurant and bar even serves up specialties from the sites of famed golf tournaments.

The Tribute at The Colony Golf Club bears influence from some of the best courses in Scotland. Designed by renowned architect Tripp Davis, The Tribute boasts a breathtaking, 1,150-acre property with two 18-hole courses. The newest course, the Old American Golf Club, was completed this year and was inspired by the famous American courses along the Northeast coast. Add amenities like resort-quality pools, landscaped streams and canals, and immaculate garden areas, and you have one spectacular day on the green.

Instead of trying to simulate other courses, the Keith Foster-designed Texas Star Golf Course embraces the unique beauty of Texas with this 275-acre masterpiece wrapped around Hurricane Creek. Soaking in the beauty of the hills, waterfalls and untouched nature adds to the enjoyment of the professional-level course.

Also focusing on the beauty of Texas is Waterchase Golf Club. Pleasing to the eyes as well as the golf swing, Waterchase even has a cascading waterfall. The course itself has six sets of tees—to accommodate everyone from beginners to seasoned pros—the Jim McLean Professional Golf Center with knowledgeable instructors, a short game area and a nine-hole practice course.

If you’re staying in Grapevine, don’t miss Cowboys Golf Club. This elegant club has views that rival any other in Texas. The Dallas Cowboys’ contribution to sports history is evident in this club’s NFL-themed layout (the world’s first!). But you don’t have to be a football fan to enjoy the enticing waterways and unique scenic beauty this club has to offer.

Finally, for a family outing unlike any other, head to Topgolf. You can leave the khakis and tournament-quality clubs at home for this one if you’d like. Top Golf isn’t just a range; it’s an all-encompassing entertainment complex, complete with a 54-hole miniature golf course, batting cages, spacious patios, a sports area with flat-screen TVs and nightly drink specials. Top Golf also has a full-menu restaurant, food service that can be brought to you while you play, and a “golf academy” for those looking to improve their craft.
