This journey began on a quaint and romantic street in Tel Aviv, rooted in the heart of a family-driven business. Every family member passionately crafted unique flavors imbued with a warm and homely touch. When Alona Eliasi LTD approached the task of developing the design concept for our locations, we embarked on a thoughtful process. We meticulously examined and distilled our family’s time-honored values, seamlessly connecting them with a contemporary and global customer experience. The outcome is a unique DNA design style that comfortably resides in the Modern Vintage category. This approach ensures that wherever Anita branches spring up around the world, they seamlessly blend in as if they’ve been a cherished part of the landscape for generations.”

This confectionery marvel, originally birthed in a cozy Mediterranean kitchen in 1998 by Mama Anita Avital, has flourished into an internationally celebrated brand with 19 locations worldwide, each testament to its unparalleled quality and innovation. With an impressive lineup of gelato, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and ice cream, including vegan and sugar-free offerings, Anita Gelato caters to a diverse palette while staying true to its roots. “Anita is a family-owned business, while most of the headquarters employees are also part of the family and best friends,” Avital explained. “I believe that in the family business, everyone is working super hard not only with their brains and hands but also with their heart. Abroad, Anita is owned by Adi and Nir only; there are no franchises at the moment. The manager and gelatiers were trained in Anita, and for so long, they became part of the family.”

The Times Square outpost is a haven for dessert lovers, featuring 36 rotating flavors of frozen delicacies, all crafted in-house using only the finest, freshest ingredients. “Anita Gelato has a small kitchen with a gelato machine and all the necessary equipment in every store,” Avital told us. “We produce the gelato every day by our gelatiers, who have trained for one year in our home offices. We use the best ingredients, and quality is our top priority.”

Enthusiasts will be delighted by both timeless favorites and inventive concoctions like Milk Chocolate Salted Pretzel or Hazelnut Mousse and Chocolate. “We have a big variety of dairy-free flavors: sorbet like banana and dates, watermelon and mint, strawberry, mango, limoncello and more,” Avital said of the flavors. “Additionally, we have other dairy-free options like coconut cream, dark chocolate, dark chocolate cookies, caramel cookies, and soy base. For sugar-free options, we offer chocolate/hazelnut gelato.” However, Anita Gelato offers more than just exquisite treats. The shop itself is a voyage to a bygone era, with its vintage mid-century modern decor, soothing pastel tones accented with hints of gold and black, and an inviting glass gelato case that beckons to passersby.
