Exploring Las Vegas’ Newest Attraction Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart

Since its announcement, Las Vegas has eagerly awaited the attraction from the Santa Fe-based company. Located inside AREA15, the famous Meow Wolf team brings an operational supermarket to Las Vegas, complete with portals into another world. I was invited to visit Omega Mart firsthand so that I could share my experience here.

Discover Omega Mart

It’s impossible to miss Omega Mart when you walk into AREA15. The enormous entrance looks like a run-of-the-mill supermarket with fluorescent lights, a large snack section, produce and a spot in the back to get your frozen drinks. One could easily mistake this for a regular market if it weren’t for the novelty items such as Emergency Clams and Corn PM. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that everything in the store is available for purchase.

Explore the full Experience

I didn’t linger too long in the market since there were so many other interesting places hidden within. Numerous portals throughout the store take you deeper into the attraction for the full Meow Wolf experience. I entered through the freezer section, walked past chilled bottles through a winding tunnel, and ended up in what looked like an explorer’s station. A very deserted explorer’s station. I walked through the station and found myself in what resembled a canyon within a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns with a psychedelic river running through it.

Get Immersed

This part of the attraction is even more interactive than the market. There are numerous doors to open, buttons to push and sections to explore (with lots of sanitizer stations throughout). The rich details throughout the attraction are planted like Easter eggs all over the space. Various sections provide unique photo ops, while other corners reveal seating on benches or plush couches in lounge-like areas. Doors line one hallway with name-plates such as “The Internet”. There’s a small opening in one wall filled with strobe lights. Another room appears to be a waiting room with a “Receptionbot.”

Every aspect of Omega Mart brings visual elements and sound to transport you through the portal into another world truly. I’m fairly certain I didn’t see everything there was to see at Omega Mart. After exploring for a while, I descended the stairs (not quite ready to take the wormhole back to the ground floor) and wandered back through another portal that took me to the garden section. I encountered Omega Mart staff that seemed utterly unfazed to see random strangers walking out of the garden section (or the freezer, for that matter). As I took in the fluorescent lights of the supermarket, the space looked so normal that I almost felt as though the experience I’d just had was merely a fantastic hallucination.
