Ferguson’s Downtown uniquely blends history, culture, and modern innovation. Punctuated by the towering semi-truck sculpture, the Big Rig Jig by artist Mike Ross, it’s nearly impossible to miss the space as you wander down E. Fremont Street. “Fergusons Downtown is a really special place not only in downtown Las Vegas but also in Las Vegas in general,” Tori Fangman, Fergusons Downtown General Manager, told us. “We are a destination rooted in community, which means that we celebrate and highlight all things local—music, art, food, artisans, curators, and more—and we are dedicated to cultivating a diverse and inviting community that fosters creativity and passion. From the shops of local makers to restaurants and enchanting green space, this revitalized historic Fergusons Motel is a place where anyone and everyone can connect, shop, eat, drink, gather, and explore.”
Ferguson’s Downtown: Where Art, Community, and Commerce Thrive
Originally a 1940s-era motel, this vibrant community has transformed into a thriving urban oasis with a diverse collection of local shops, eateries, and creative spaces. Visitors can explore boutique stores showcasing local artisans, trendy cafes with delicious and ethically sourced fare, and dynamic event spaces hosting everything from live music to art installations. “Fergusons is a magnet for the local artist community,” Fangman told us. “Not only are our shops owned by local artists and creatives, but on any given day, you might find an artist painting in The Yard or peacefully strumming a guitar. You will find little murals and hidden art pieces in tenants’ shops (hint: check the skylights). Our Rooftop Deck above Mothership Coffee features a beautiful interactive art installation titled “Voice of the Wine” by local artist Clarice Tara. It is part of our mission statement to invest in and highlight our local creative community!”
The meticulous restoration of this historic landmark successfully preserves its nostalgic charm while integrating contemporary design elements, making it a must-see destination for locals and tourists. “Because Fergusons Downtown is rooted in community, we will continue to evolve in a way that makes sense to the community we serve. That takes listening and picking up on cues from the people who visit, shop, and frequent our space. And the thing about that is that Downtown Las Vegas, as a whole, is constantly evolving. Even with the opening of Bent and Share Downtown, this neighborhood is growing and changing right now. I imagine and hope that in the next five years, we will continue to see growth and revitalization in the surrounding area. We’re ready and excited to continue providing a welcoming space that highlights the creatives and creativity of this community!
“Fergusons Downtown opened right before the pandemic,” Fangman explained the facility’s roots. “We celebrated our grand opening and ribbon cutting in December 2019, and we were shut down three months later. It was a rough couple of months, but through the community’s strong support, we have been able to watch our tenants thrive. Here at Fergusons Downtown, the small business owner/creative/entrepreneur is out there, talking to and connecting with the shoppers and the guests. People buy directly from them, and often, something is created directly from them. I think people feel good knowing they are supporting an actual person and that person’s hard work and passions.”
What sets Ferguson’s Downtown apart is its commitment to fostering a sense of community and sustainability—hence the distinct partnerships with local businesses. This urban village prioritizes collaboration and supports smaller companies, encouraging a culture where creativity and entrepreneurship can flourish. “We really pride ourselves on the diversity of our shops,” Fangman said of the variety. “All of our shops are locally driven while also offering something unique, handmade, and/or curated. From a plant shop to a silversmith and everything in between, all of our shop owners have a true passion for their craft and what they are bringing to the neighborhood.”
The ample green spaces and communal areas provide a welcoming atmosphere for social gatherings, workshops, and community events. “While our shops are the anchors of Fergusons Downtown, we also love our inviting green space,” Fangman told us of the facilities. “There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t see families playing in The Yard, students doing homework, colleagues co-working. The Yard is centrally located and the perfect place for meet ups, markets, concerts, comedy shows, yoga—the list goes on and on, and we do it all here! Each of these activations brings people together and encourages community, and we love that about this space!”
Beyond retail and dining options, Ferguson’s Downtown regularly hosts wellness activities like yoga sessions and meditation workshops, creating a holistic environment where individuals can connect, grow, and thrive. Events frequently include live music, Shuffle Dating, craft workshops, art pop-ups, and so much more.
“One of our biggest flagship events is Hey Maker Market, which draws a big crowd to Fergusons Downtown each and every month,” Fangman said of the events. “But beyond that, our neighbors do a fantastic job of curating regular markets and workshops throughout the month. Additionally, we partner with Don’t Tell Comedy and We the Beat for events that have become really popular. These events keep Fergusons Downtown activated nearly every weekend, always giving folks a reason to stop by!” The dynamic blend of old and new at Ferguson’s Downtown creates a vibrant and inclusive space that truly captures the spirit of Las Vegas.
