Kosmos, situated in Walpole, has captivated the Boston food scene with its impeccable Greek dishes, lively ambiance, and welcoming service. The team behind this fantastic spot is none other than the Petropulos brothers, who come from Greece themselves.
Authentic Greek Cuisine at Kosmos in Boston
“Being authentically Greek is a big part of who we are as a restaurant. I was born in the US, but my family was from Greece; we moved back, and my brother and I grew up there. We take pride in bringing the traditional flavors and culture of Greece to our guests. From the ingredients we use to the furniture in the restaurant, every aspect is infused with our Greek heritage,” Angelos Petropulos, Chef & Co-Owner, told us. “The family atmosphere is what really sets our restaurant apart too. Since my brother and I own the restaurant together, we’re always there, and every day, every shift, you’ll find a family member on hand to ensure our guests receive the warm hospitality they deserve. Our amazing staff is like family too, and ensure everyone who walks through the door feels at home and has a great experience.”
In a short span of time, Kosmos has earned its spot as a must-visit location in the city. Kosmos boasts of a highly skilled chef who was trained by the legendary Gordon Hamersley. Additionally, the restaurant will soon be unveiling its garden patio and Sunday brunch. “I created the menu working alongside my great friend and our Executive Chef Luis, so we had a lot of fun putting it together and continue to enjoy updating it each season. We take pride in crafting our menu with a personal touch, incorporating my family’s cherished recipes into dishes we serve to our guests,” Petropulos said of the menu. “Our goal is to bring the true taste of Greece to our customers, just as my brother and I grew up enjoying in our own home. It brings us joy to share these flavors and traditions with the Greater Boston community, and we work tirelessly to ensure that every bite is a truly delicious and memorable experience.”
Food has been a part of Petropulos’s life for decades—his family had a long-standing Greek bakery in Boston before moving back to Greece. During his time there, he received his culinary degree at Alpine Center in Athens and began his career at a five-star resort in Vouliagmeni before returning to Boston for more experiences that would shape him as the chef he’s become since. He enlisted the help of his good friend, Chef Luis Figueroa, as Executive Chef to bring Kosmos’s brand of authentic Greek cuisine to Boston. “The kitchen staff at Kosmos is fantastic, and it takes a village to create the restaurant’s success,” Petropulos explained. “Alongside Luis and I, they work tirelessly to create and execute the menu of authentic Greek dishes that we’re known for. The whole team takes great pride in their work and is always looking for ways to take the dining experience to the next level for guests. They are an essential part of what makes Kosmos such a special and beloved restaurant.”
Kosmos is poised to become a significant player in the Boston food industry with a culinary experience you won’t find elsewhere. “Diners experience the warmth of Greek hospitality and indulge in authentic Hellenic flavors at Kosmos. Our mission is to create lasting memories for guests while contributing to the community,” Petropulos told us. “We draw inspiration from the ancient Greek philosophy of “Pan Metron Ariston,” meaning “Everything in Moderation,” and this is what we strive to achieve and provide with Kosmos.”
