If you’re searching for a true getaway this summer, make a little island visit to the Inn at Diamond Cove. Just a quick hop (ferry ride) from Portland harbor, Great Diamond Island (one of the islands in Casco Bay) offers all the perfect components of a genuine summer break without the hassle of a long journey.
With several dining options and plenty of fun outdoor activities, the beautifully restored historic property provides a peaceful, car-free retreat for the whole family. We talked with Crystal Ingerson, Director of Sales, to see what visitors can expect this summer.
Visiting the Inn at Diamond Cove
What will be different about this season?
Ingerson: We are excited about adding fresh, new amenities for our guests to enjoy, like bike rentals, a cabana/pool bar, a curated schedule of events and more. We will have enhanced food and beverage offerings at the Inn, offering a full-service breakfast and dinner experience.
Describe your version of the perfect day on Great Diamond Island.
Ingerson: Arrival by water taxi on a sunny day to be greeted by our amazing team! After a seamless check-in and getting settled, I’d venture out to familiarize myself with the island and all that it has to offer, including lounging by the Hotel’s pool/hot tub and/or enjoying a glass of wine on the semi-private balcony off of my room. Ending the night with an ocean-side dinner at Diamond’s Edge!
What do you think makes the Inn at Diamond Cove unique?
Ingerson: Diamond Cove itself tells a special story. Some features that I find to be unique for our guests are the candlepin bowling alley, arcade games, and basketball court, as these were fun activities that the soldiers had back when the island was housing for the military.
What are you most excited about this season?
Ingerson: Welcoming new and returning guests so they can experience the enhancements that our team has been working hard on!
