Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) is a new Broadway musical at the Longacre Theatre that blends humor, heart, and an adventurous spirit on its way through the city. The show follows Dougal, an upbeat Brit in town for his father’s wedding, and Robin, the busy New York native tasked with handling errands related to that same celebration, including picking up a reluctant family member. When their paths cross, they set out together across Manhattan, discovering unexpected moments and personal insights along the way in a story about connection, second chances, and the quirks of navigating life in New York. With a book, music, and lyrics by Jim Barne and Kit Buchan, this original musical pairs witty moments with emotional beats, creating a welcoming, upbeat tone that reflects the diverse city setting. Previews for the production began in early November 2025, and the show officially opened later that month, inviting audiences to share in the laughter, missteps, and hopeful discoveries that unfold when two very different strangers are brought together by circumstance.
